What is the name of the owner of your shop?
My name is Camilo Cuyás, I’m 48 years old, getting into 49. I’m proud to be still difficult to beat on the Tibidabo hill climb for many riders.

How did you discover cycling?
Since I was a child, cycling was one of my passions. Initially with BMX bikes, then with the first mountain bikes. After this I stopped cycling regularly, because I was trapped into windsurfing. I came back to cycling after having children because it was easier than windsurfing for the family logistics. Since then I have been riding mostly road, 'cross and gravel bikes, although the past year I have started to ride mountain bikes again. I train two hours per day and climbing is more my objective than distance.

For how many years has The Bike Ambulance been in business?
I’m new to the cycling business. My career has been in finance and operations in different sectors for more than 20 years. At one point in my life I decided to start my own cycling business. At the end of 2019 I knew one of the most respected mechanics of Barcelona (Oriol Vidal) and we rapidly connected personally. He decided to come aboard my project and we started working together. The workshop opening was planned for March 18th of 2020, but the lockdown started on March 13th and we had to postpone the launch for May 2020. Alonso Arriagada (mechanic, Chile) joined us one year later and Elix Mencía (front office and logistics) joined the team one year after Alonso.

What is your shop’s mission statement?
We’re devoted to delivering a premium bike repair service to our customers, in terms of quality of the repair in itself, but also in terms of efficiency, because we know that having the bike stuck in a workshop for days is not a desirable scenario for our customers.

What makes your shop different than others?
We are a group of good people that always look for the best solution for our customers. We work as a team and we are organized as a company. We have a bunch of processes in place that ensure continuity, quality and transparency of the service. Additionally, we pick up the bike at the customer’s home, we repair it in our workshop and we deliver it back to the customer’s house (the day after pick up). We only repair bikes, - we’re not a regular bike shop. This enables us to be 100% concentrated in providing a premium repair service. Assembling Ritchey bikes fully fits into our vision, because at the end of the day assembling a bike is one of our regular “type” of repairs. And a Ritchey bike is a very nice and top quality bike.

Why did you choose to carry Ritchey products?
I’ve been riding your frames for three years (Road Logic Disc and Ultra) with no issues. These bikes are assembled with your components…and being a hard user (12.000km + per year), I can easily recommend them.

What is your favorite ritchey product?
I like the new Road Logic Disc Frame in green.

Any regular shop rides or special events?
I wake up early in the morning every day, and we hold 5:00 a.m. rides on a weekly basis. Join our club on Strava. For obvious reasons it’s not a very crowded club…😂
