WCS Gets a New Look

After 30+ years of a logo synonymous with victories at Union Cycliste International (UCI) World Cup and Championship races, the time has come for Ritchey — in accordance with UCI regulations — to retire the iconic rainbow stripes that dignify world champions in all cycling disciplines. The agreement between the UCI and Ritchey to use the world champion stripes expired at the end of 2024 and is not eligible for renewal. Ritchey would like to acknowledge the decades-long partnership and thank the UCI for the use of the celebrated symbol.

It has been an honor for Ritchey to bear the mark of champions, thanks in no small part to the athletes, like inaugural Mountain Bike World Cup champion Don Myrah, Ruthie Matthes, Henrik Djernis, Thomas Frischknecht, Nino Schurter, and Jenny Rissveds, who have helped make the brand the standard of excellence that pro racers expect from their componentry. We are now moving on to the next brilliant phase of Ritchey’s World Championship Series (WCS).

Ritchey has evolved beyond pure racing as our ethos. By retiring the championship colors, we transcend the limitations imposed by a singular focus on competition, while staying true to the elite quality we are known for.

WCS will remain the backbone of the Ritchey product range. Its reputation as the standard of quality that cyclists have come to demand will not be diminished, despite the absence of the rainbow stripes. Instead, this statement serves as an announcement for the new Ritchey WCS logo.

To identify an authentic Ritchey WCS product, the new logo will feature the same font type as before but each of the five stripes will now be a uniform shade of metallic gray. To align our WCS heritage with the Ritchey brand, references on ritcheylogic.com and on our product packaging will be in Ritchey’s signature blue.

Starting 1 January 2025 all new WCS products will be produced with the new logo. Some WCS products in Ritchey’s stock still have the former logo with the rainbow stripes. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the shipping of WCS products during the logo transition, and therefore cannot guarantee which WCS logo will appear on any purchased WCS product(s). Ritchey took special consideration to make sure the updated branding fits seamlessly with previous WCS iterations and is worthy of the level of quality you've grown to trust.
